The White Lamp shook up the disco world last year with ‘It’s You’, their mellow, vocal-focussed debut single released on one of our favourite labels, Futureboogie.
‘Make It Good’ had a comparatively low-key, white label release last year and it is a wonderful song, if the beat was slower it would be a strong reggae contender. Groovy and modest, the simple squelchy beat and accapella vocals make for easy listening and the jazzy vibe meant it was hyped by Gilles Peterson himself.
Pete Josef has produced a stripped back, unobtrusive beats mix, removing much of the rhythmic percussion in favour of the strong R n B vocals which are left to shine alongside mystic synth notes which skip through the track.
