Throwback: Chez Damier – I Never Knew Love (Made In Detroit Mix)

Released back in 1992, this awesome progressive banger comes from a legend in his own right who gave a series of illuminating lectures for RBMA 7 years ago; after stumbling across them this morning I’m halfway through them already. They are a glimpse back in time, right to the foundations of house music as we know it.

Back to the track: a driving beat that makes you feel like compelled to dance; the rhythmic, constant percussion which was typical of the genre back in the 80s and 90s and that stand-out synth that niggles into the head along with the piano chords that make for pure listening & dancing pleasure. The outstanding feature is the slightly deadpan voice which is good to listen to at any point of the day, this is not just a night-time vibe! It’s even got panpipes.

Classic for a reason.

Released: 1992
