Throwback: Lou Reed – Walk On The Wild Side (Rocco Raimundo Extended Edit) (Free Download)

Here we share an amazing disco edit of a sing by the late, great Lou Reed, one of the greatest and most influential musicians of the 20th century. Famed for hits such as ‘Perfect Day’ and ‘Walk On The Wild Side’, he was wonderfully talented and by no means limited merely hit songs, whether in a band (The Velvet Underground) or as a solo artist, he excelled. ‘Pale Blue Eyes‘ from arguably the best Velvet Underground album which was their third and self-titled is a personal favourite. His solo career spanned decades, producing songs such as the amazing ‘Sweet Jane‘ which showcase his ridiculous musical ability with guitar riffs to rival Hendrix. He even collaborated with Metallica before his death, providing spoken word for the music, showing his ability to turn his hand to anything.

His songs were emotive, powerful and inspiring; it didn’t matter if you listened to him when they first appeared back in the 1960s and 70s like my mum did or if you heard them in the 90s, they cross generations and they are unforgettable.

This awesome mix from Rocco Raimundo elegantly funks up the song through the medium of disco.
