Throwback: Dinosaur – Kiss Me Again

This has been a fairly disco themed Christmas for me. I’ve been on the lookout for some truly funky disco and one of my favourite tracks I’ve stumbled across is mixed by a fairly well known, Avant Guard producer named Arthur Russell. A prolific musician famous  for his stubbornness, never agreeing that a piece of music was ‘complete’, instead continually going back and refreshing old songs creating alternate versions.

‘Kiss Me Again’ is one of Russell’s most popular songs, possibly due to its cameo from Talking Heads legend David Byrne on guitar. This record is a thirteen minute long epic, a seemingly never ending stream of funk and soul, created by a super tight band and sassy disco vocal. This track might not be quite as dance floor ready as some of the other disco records I write about but it certainly is genius, every minute of it.

Released: 1978
