Throwback: KC & the Sunshine Band – I Get Lifted (Todd Terje Tangoterje Re-Edit)

With the exciting news that Todd Terje will be releasing his debut album in the next few months it only seems appropriate to take a look at one of his lesser known beauties. ‘I Get Lifted (Todd Terje Tangoterje Re-Edit)’ is an amazing record with endless funk and soul. It also, surprisingly, shares the same guitar riff as the infamous hip-hop record Biggie Smalls ‘Respect’. The original record come from the heart of 1970’s Florida, Miami at a time when funk was at its peak.

Although it has to be said, the original is not that different to this more updated Terje edit, however, that certainly isn’t a bad thing. This feel good classic always goes down well, it seems no one can resist the funky bass line and addictive guitar. If Todd’s album is anywhere near as good as this little number then I’m sure our ears are in for a treat.

Unofficial release: 2005
