Throwback: Beverley Knight – Rewind (Bump & Flex Remix)

Having been bogged down by two looming uni deadlines recently I’ve found solace in some classic light-hearted 2-step garage to get through these lonely library days. One getting some of the most replays is this rework done by verteran old skool garage duo – Bump & Flex. One of my favourite garage producers and legends of remixes, ‘Rewind’ epitomises that perfect balance garage can achieve between sounding appealing on commercial and underground levels. Possessing one of the smoothest opening vocals ever to grace a garage record, ‘Rewind’ packs bounce and shuffle blending Knights vocals beautifully with playful chord interjections and distinctive syncopated high hat and snare interplay. Alongside their remix of Deetah’s ‘relax’ this is definitely one of Bump & Flex’s best efforts.

House party riddum.
