Upon a recent binge on disco/funk house edits I’ve found myself continually coming back to the sounds of Netherlands based Philou Louzolo. With this great name comes a great producing talent, and is showcased best in his recent effort entitled ‘Soul Celebration’. The developing crossover genre of funk and disco infused house seems to be inspiring a lot of creativity recently, as many producers seek to assemble all the best aspects of each genre together. ‘Soul Celebration’ can definitely be celebrated in this regard, bringing classic disco-esque bass riffs and trumpet eruptions whilst the funk permeates through that irrepressible guitar riff and the housey element shines through those classic shuffling percussion loops. And what better way to encapsulate the sound of soul than through (if I’m not mistaken) the legendary vocals cut from Mike Dunn which contribute fittingly with the looping sounds of ‘soul brothers, soul sisters’.
