Nextup: Events worth leaving the house for – 17th-20th April

A truly mixed bag this bank holiday weekend, with house and disco from Crew Love and Space Dimension Controller, legend Kenny Dope hitting up Twenty Twenty Two, classic UKG form DJ EZ, Detroit techno from the master Kyle Hall and Easter Sunday being Max Graef, James Holroyd and Tiger & Woods…

Thursday 17th:
Mind on Fire – Band on the Wall
Mancunian Tom Leah celebrates the release of his new EP on Tru Throughts label. Expect Afrobeat, bass, house, jazz, funk and soul; with support from Manchester jazz legend Matthew Hallsall and Harleighblu, Tru Thoughts’ rising star.

EXHiBiT – Twenty Twenty Two
Kenny Dope
Masters at Work. No more credentials needed as these three words speak for themselves. Producers of some of the absolute classic house tunes and remixes of the past 25 years.

Crew Love – Sankeys
Soul ClapWolf + Lamb , no regular playPillowTalkSlow HandsTanner Ross
The line-up for this is absolutely ridiculous. Soul Clap are legends in the making, live they are insane and the same goes for the rest of the line-up. Not the standard impersonal house night, expect these renowned crate diggers to chuck in some disco, funk and soul gems so not only will you be stamping but you’ll also be grooving and boogieing.

Friday 18th (Good Friday):
Quintessential – Joshua Brooks
Kyle Hall
Techno master and Detroit native Kyle Hall returns to Manchester, ready to provide an unconventional journey through the history of techno, from jazz to soul and house.

Soup Kitchen presents…
Space Dimension Controller
All night long! Who doesn’t love a bit of intergalactic cosmic boogietime.

Saturday 19th:
Heavy Rain – Joshua Brooks
Vinyl Only residents set. Arguably some of the best residents around.

Sunday 20th:
Doodle x Thick As Thieves x Etc Manchester – Roadhouse
Max Graef
Each of his releases is stronger than the last. At only 21 years old he’s already done more than what many of us will do in a lifetime. Possible prodigal son, he’s up there with wonder-kid Nicolas Jaar. For a fiver this is insanely good value.

Micron – Gorilla
Tiger & Woods
After seeing them in the same capacity last year, their claim of ‘our disco boots are already shaking like shitting dogs for this one’ is not as far-fetched as it sounds.

Tussle – Kraak
James Holroyd
Basics and Bugged Out! resident James Holroyd has had more than enough years on the circuit to know to perfect mix. The atmosphere for this one will be special.

Hi Ku – Dry Live
Mike Huckaby
Fresh from his Sun-Ra tribute at Whiskey Jar on Friday, he makes the trip round the corner to blow off some socks with his finest electronic selections. Satisfaction guaranteed.

S2S Festival – Bowlers Exhibition Centre
Kissy Sell Out, DJ EZ
Very commercial outing with Radio 1 DJ Kissy Sell Out who is blessed with a wealth of music knowledge, due to considerable experience at the forefront of the music industry. Joined by garage king DJ EZ (DJ EZ).
