Recently signed to industry giants Def Jam, Common is set to release his new LP ‘Nobody’s Smiling’ this July. This will be his fourth album produced by the newly appointed label executive No I.D.
‘Kingdom’ is a 6-minute social message touching on themes of religion and violence, but don’t let the track’s preachy message deter you. Both Common and Vince Staples rap thought-provoking bars over a powerful gospel choir sample and marching snare rhythm. Not quite as good as ‘Made in Black America’, another track from the new album unveiled earlier this year, but a solid listen nonetheless. Common’s music never fails to enlighten.
