The esteemed Clone Basement Series is back and this time they’ve enlisted the help of techno powerhouse Randomer and the relatively obscure Cadans to bring us two slices of industrial goodness guaranteed to shut the club down.
A-side ‘Angry Fiddle’ stays true to title; an all-out four to the floor wall-shaker holding heavy kicks with mild distortion and skittish snares. Aggressive strings stab the foreground with whispering echoes layered over a propulsive rhythm.
On the flip ‘Lottarump’, a track that’s been getting plays from Blawan et al since 2013 when it was first introduced via Neighbourhood Music, is another stomper. Acid-like 303 melodies dance around a 4×4 beat amidst threatening atmospherics, again leaning heavily on percussion but at the same time retaining a lighter feel than that of it predecessor.
Having not been treated with anything new from Randomer for 2015 up until now, this is a much welcomed return to form and an exciting foresight of things to come. This is an equally remarkable return from Cadans also, having withheld any new material since his 2013 release on prodigious Dutch label Balans. Hopefully we’ll be hearing more from the both of them as the rest of the year plays out.
