Croatian festival, Soundwave, today announced its first acts for 2017, including Josey Rebelle, Gilles Peterson and the legendary, Roy Ayers.
Now in its ninth edition, Soundwave is one of the longest-running Croatian festivals and as had ample time to build up a core of friendly followers, who return year after year to experience one of the most chilled out festivals of the summer.
Making his debut on the island in the fittingly idyllic setting, is Roy Ayers, one of the most famous funk and jazz musicians in the world. Often copied but never bettered, Ayers is best known for ‘Everybody Loves the Sunshine’ yet is also partial to a remix (see below). Ayers is joined by Worldwide FM founder, Gilles Peterson, a man widely credited with bringing world music into mainstream consciousness, via his popular radio show on BBC 6Music.
Newer, ‘nextup’ generation of artists announced includes NTS and Rinse resident, Joesey Rebelle, whose soulful selections have already seen her gain widespread support in the underground scene.
They are joined by Yussef Kamaal, a collab between Henry Wu and Yussef Dayes – a hot tip for 2017; Egyptian Lover, Horse Meat Disco and Mercury prize nominated jazz band, Gogo Penguin.
